What is VBIC?

The Victorian Biomedical Imaging Capability (VBIC) brings together all key Victorian players in biomedical imaging and enables increased collaboration and sharing of capabilities and infrastructure to benefit translational research and global competitiveness in priority health areas.

VBIC provides a coordinated network of capabilities and research capacity in biomedical imaging to support universities and medical research institutes for:

  • Cancer imaging - Monash University, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre (PMCC), Prince Henry's Institute, Southern Health, CRC for Biomedical Imaging Development (CRC-BID)
  • Large animal imaging - University of Melbourne
  • Cognitive and clinical neurosciences research - the Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health (Florey), University of Melbourne, CSIRO, Alfred Health, Southern Health and Swinburne and Monash Universities
  • Maintenance of existing research capabilities in small animal MR - Florey, Parkville - and large animal CT - University of Melbourne

VBIC welcomes the opportunity to support collaboration across Victoria and Australia, with many of the resources also part of the National Imaging Facility.  If you are interested in making use of the facilities or would like to know more, please contact the VBIC Business Manager or one of the Node Directors.
