What is VBIC?

The Victorian Biomedical Imaging Capability (VBIC) brings together all key Victorian players in biomedical imaging and enables increased collaboration and sharing of capabilities and infrastructure to benefit translational research and global competitiveness in priority health areas.

VBIC provides a coordinated network of capabilities and research capacity in biomedical imaging to support universities and medical research institutes for:

  • Cancer imaging - Monash University, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre (PMCC), Prince Henry's Institute and Monash Health
  • Large animal imaging - University of Melbourne
  • Cognitive and clinical neurosciences research - the Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health (Florey), University of Melbourne, CSIRO, Alfred Health, Monash Health, Swinburne and Monash Universities and the Centre of Excellence in Integrative Brain Function.
  • Maintenance of existing research capabilities in small animal MR - Florey, Parkville - and large animal CT - University of Melbourne
