The 7T MRI at the University of Melbourne (UoM) will be available for research use from mid-2014. To facilitate and grow access, UoM has teamed up with the Brain Research Institute (BRI, Austin Hospital and the Florey at Heidelberg) to provide coordinated discounted 3T MRI access.

The intent being researchers would use both 3T and 7T MRI scanners to demonstrate the differences between the two systems and (therefore) the advantages of 7T. This arrangement will see 3T and 7T MRI provided at low cost for a limited time (2014 calendar year only). More details on the process can be viewed in the presentation Professor Ordidge gave to a town hall meeting of potential users.

UoM are also helping researchers with their 2014 grant applications by supporting the acquisition of data to inform applications submitted in early 2014.

If you would like to know more about the access scheme, or would like to know how to add your 3T MRI scanner to the scheme review the presentation for information and/or contact Professor Ordidge.
