The University of Melbourne and the Florey are pleased to announce that the PhD coursework in neuroscience will be offered again in March 2014, albeit with a few changes in response to the supervisors’ survey as well as the students’ feedback:

1. The course will be shorter: ie from 5 weeks to an introductory day followed by 4 successive weeks. The course will start on Friday 7 March through to Friday 4 April 2014 (see details in attached PDFs).
2. All coursework subjects will be ungraded Pass/Fail, and as a consequence a greater emphasis will be placed on engagement and active participation during the face-to-face multi-disciplinary experience.
3. Written homework will be kept to a minimum (B subjects), except for the design and analysis plan and the literature review on the thesis topic (A subjects). 
4. The admin fee per subject has been reduced by 50% to $150. This means a maximum of $600 will be charged per student for the full course.
5. Subject selection forms will need to be submitted for approval ASAP or by 8 February 2014 at the latest.

The course is an excellent opportunity to gain an overview of basic concepts across the wide spectrum of disciplines interested in contemporary neuroscience, share new ideas and refine one’s doctoral project while networking. We encourage all new graduate researchers with a PhD project related to the neurosciences across all the disciplines to enrol in the coursework.
